The position is based on Portsmouth site which is Airbus Centre of Excellence for Telecom payloads. The position being open in the specific area of Telecom missions, it provides a unique insight into the design, analysis, integration and delivery of a state of the art end-to-end communication system. This includes the telecom payload, but the role will also provide an insight into antenna, platform and spacecraft considerations and also into ground segment elements.


Relevant degree disciplines:
• A degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic engineering, mathematics or physics

Technical / IT / Behavioural / Language skills required:
• Basic knowledge of computer programming
• Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
• Experience with modelling tools such as Matlab Simulink; SystemVue; ADS; etc. would be a plus

Experience required (e.g. work experience / clubs / societies / charity work / hobbies etc.):
• Academic background supported by pre / post graduate experience gained through internship or research projects
• Any experience involving utilisation of RF instruments, test equipment; test techniques will be desirable
• Experience of working within an environment controlled strictly through an established quality system
• Previous industrial experience is not mandatory, but demonstration of the desire to work in the Space Industry is essential


Roles & responsibilities

• Support to project work: shadow a project’s RF engineer or Electrical engineer or EMC engineer or Telecom Payload Equipment Specialist
• Take part to the nominal activities supported by system engineering such as performance analysis; establishment of payload models; review of equipment results or support to payload Assembly, Integration and Test
• Support study / R&D project: carry out a well-defined work package within the Advanced Payload Team. The topic for research / study will be defined with the Head of Advanced Payload and will be related to demonstrator / new technology or architecture assessment
• Process; methods and tools: review modes of working on a given topic (proposal; support to design; performance analysis; preparation for AIT; etc.) contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives by assisting in process definition and documentation
