Overall purpose: To assist the Chief Security Officer in the development and delivery of the Privacy Programme (GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation), performing BAU activities such as Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), data mapping, privacy by design. This will necessitate working closely with the Head Office Programme team and executing the requirements necessary to ensure GDPR compliance in the UK. The role will be approximately 70% of the role. To assist the UK Business Continuity Manager with their role and assisting with testing exercises and being part of the UK BC Crisis team. 25% To assist the EMEA Physical Security manager with admin tasks in relation to the Physical security access system and CCTV. 5% 


Main responsibilities: In close liaison with the EMEA Chief Security Officer and the local IT department, as relevant, the Intern will: 

• Assist with the delivery of the Privacy Programme, this will be ensuring the UK is compliant with GDPR requirements

• Conducting Data Subject Access Requests when required

• Assisting the business and advising on privacy matters

• CSO is privacy Subject Matter Expert (SME)

• Head Office is also Privacy SME

• Attending EMEA Privacy Committee meetings

• Assist the Head of BCM with reviews to ascertain business critical systems and processes

• To assist with co-ordination of continuity tests at recovery sites

• Assist with physical access ID cards and access to the building

• Assist with CCTV investigations, where necessary

• Assist with security and continuity of the business and safety of staff




• Basic understanding of the principles/issues involved in Privacy

• Basic understanding of business continuity and personnel security

• Basic understanding of the DPA & GDPR • Knowledge of the ISO 27001 framework

• Knowledge of the ISO 22301 framework

• Disciplined, pragmatic approach

• Excellent written and oral skills

• Analytical skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly to others and to identify and escalate issues of concern to management, as appropriate

• Ability to work in a pressured environment while prioritising appropriately competing objectives

• Supportive and reliable team member. Self-motivated, demonstrating enjoyment in their work
